Blocky Bill in the Arena of Death
A classically retro-styled arcade arena-shooter, Blocky Bill in the Arena of Death is a fast-paced run’n'gun game. Stripped to its very basics, it is a frantic battle to stay alive in a claustrophobic arena against some truly weird creatures.
In Arcade Mode you have to survive until the final boss arrives. In Never-Ending Nightmare Mode, you keep on fighting against ever more desperate odds until finally you succumb, and is only for hardcore players.

NEWS AS OF 4 Jan 2011 – most of the game is now done, but stuff like balancing needs to be sorted and scoring needs to be implemented. Here’s a screenie of where it’s at:

I like it, especially the music. It’s quite hard, but maybe I’m just bad at arena shooters.
Is the ammo, health and sprite generation random? Leads to odd situations, like no sprites on screen but a health pack still appears. Need more ammo, more often, to keep the momentum going I think.
Those little cyan gits are…well little cyan gits.

Can you only kill them with the pink/green blob shooting gun or am I just a terrible shot with the machine gun?
I think there’s something worryingly freudian about the end boss.
Well done though, makes me think of early Minter
Stick some kind of unkillable enemy patrolling the edges and it’d be even more so.
(get some spanky shaders in there and it’d be even more like ‘new’ Minter.)
Oh yeah, and would need more ungulants, obviously. Maybe a certain terrier running around in there? Either as something to rescue for a bonus and/or a homing powerup like the doggie in Shadow Dancer?
